Earl Rivers, conductor
Ushering in the Baroque era (c. 1600-1750) as a large-scale masterwork, Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610 displays a wide range of lavish colors for vocal and instrumental soloists, 6, 7, 8 and 10-voice choral textures, and virtuosic ornamentations and improvisations. Featured Early Music guest artists will play a variety of Baroque instruments, including cornetti, sackbuts and plucked and bowed continuo instruments.
